Kill Docs - Are you worried about prying eyes taking a peek at the contents of your "Documents Menu"? This freeware utility sits in your Windows system tray (by the clock) and clears your Documents Menu when double clicked, or at preset timed intervals. Here's a screen shot. 10 kilobytes. Crypto Kong - This free program will allow you to easily encrypt your communications. It's simpler and easier to use than any competing digital signature and encryption product, because there is no need for certificate management. With Kong, you do not need to worry about public key certificates and you do not need to create and publish your public key certificate, or obtain other people's certificates so that you can communicate with them privately, unlike other digital signature and encryption programs. CodedDrag - This program encrypts your personal data using strong encryption algorithms like Triple DES and Blowfish. Just drag & drop your files, using this program's simple interface to encrypt your files. You can download and use a free version here. (For Windows 95/98/NT).
Eudora Lite with PGP - If you need privacy when sending your E-mail, here's a good free solution: Eudora Light (an excellent
freeware E-mail client) is now bundled with "Pretty Good Privacy for Personal Privacy," the strongest encryption program commercially available for individual users. Because of the current U.S. export restrictions on encryption software, you must verify that you are a citizen of (and currently residing in) the U.S. or Canada before you can download the software. Available for both PCs and Macs. Note: non-U.S. visitors can get a version of this program here.
PGP for Pegasus Mail - This freeware plugin for the popular free E-mail program, Pegasus is a must if you want to ensure privacy for your E-mail. QDPGP offers seamless integration of PGP with Pegasus and provides a comprehensive help file with context sensitive support. (For Windows 98/95/NT).
Private Idaho - A free Internet privacy utility for Windows. It simplifies using E-mail with Pretty Good Privacy (see above listing), anonymous remailers, and nym servers, providing you with more electronic privacy. Note: this program is no longer being updated. The last official release was in Jan. 1997.
PGPfone - PGPfone (Pretty Good Privacy Phone) is a software package that turns your desktop or notebook computer into a secure telephone. It uses speech compression and strong cryptography protocols to give you the ability to have a real-time secure telephone conversation via a modem-to-modem connection. (Available only for citizens of the U.S. and Canada).
