  • Error95 Joke Program - This free demo program is a must-have gag for pranksters. Error95 generates customizable fake error messages for Windows 95/98 and NT. Drive your computer buddies crazy! If you want more power and more errors, you can order the full version. (For Windows).
  • DownHoax - This nifty, free prank program makes it realistically appear as though an unwanted file is being downloaded from the Net. DownHoax randomly chooses a site from its internal database of "undesirables," and proceeds to simulate downloading an equally distasteful file. Supports both Netscape and Internet Explorer. (130 kilobytes). For Windows 98/95/NT.
  • Prank software - You'll find several fun, freeware prank software programs at this site. One program, Falsified Formatter, simulates the formatting of a hard drive--it's sure to drive your friend (or enemies) crazy. Also check out Vixenish Virus, a fake virus program.
  • Virtual Insults - Here, the fine art of insults is personified. There's someone out there who's annoying you and you want to tell them what you REALLY think. Virtual Insults has got what you need. You won't find any sappy "I love you" Hallmark sentiments here. You can send someone a witty (or not so witty) insult, complete with sound effects (such as a toilet flushing, etc.) Perfect for all "occasions."
  • Cursor Fun - Here's a fun, freeware program that randomly changes the appearance of the mouse cursor. It allows you to choose which cursor to change, what type of cursor to change it to, and how often you'd like to swap the cursor. Cursor Fun is great for playing a trick on an unsuspecting user, or for those who get bored easily with their desktop. 160 kilobytes. (For Windows 98/95/NT).
  • Regards.com April Fools' Postcards - This nifty free digital postcard site offers a great selection of wacky April Fools' Day greeting cards. Here, you'll find interactive greetings, as well as dozens of digital cards for any occasion, which you can customize, preview, and send instantly. Note: if you'd like a more personal touch, you can use your own image on one of their cards.
  • Fart Machine - Here's a completely useless freeware program that offers rude noises "for your listening pleasure." Install the Fart Machine, open the program from your start menu, and simply double click on the rude sound that you want to hear. From the wacky guys at Wavhounds.com. (For Windows 95/98).
  • JavaScript alert gag - If you're a Webmaster and you'd like to play a practical joke on your visitors, then check out this free JavaScript that offers a scary pop-up message that tells visitors they have a computer virus. From The JavaScript Source.
  • The Finger Prank - Launch this free prank program on your unsuspecting victim and watch their reaction when the Windows cursor changes to a rude gesture that involves the middle finger! By default, this program will switch the standard cursor to a finger every five seconds, but you can configure how often the cursor will change. (For Windows 98/95). 142 kilobytes.
  • Gag cursors for your Web site - If you have a Web site, then check out this free service that offers a free "April Fools" joke cursor that you can use to play a prank on your visitors. Several cursors to choose from: one version disintegrates; another wiggles and still another points in the wrong direction.
  • Text-O-Matic - Although not designed specifically as a joke service, Text-O-Matic offers many possibilities for Webmasters who'd like to play a prank on their visitors. Here, you can easily generate interactive custom messages for your site's visitors. You can even display "Big Brother is Watching You" type information about your visitors: what browser they're using; what site they just clicked in from; etc., (which is sure to give newbies the chills!)
  • HeadAche - This freeware prank program lives up to its name. That is: it'll definitely give you a headache. Be sure to view the disclaimer before viewing. You may also send HeadAche as a postcard. (115 kilobytes). For Windows 98/95/NT.
  • Fake Format - Drive your friends(?) insane with this cruel prank program. Fake Format is a free "utility" that when executed, gives the appearance that your hard drive is being formated. Your victim will be unable to stop or close this clever, realistic program. It even creates hard drive noise while it is "formatting." (For Windows 98/95/NT).
  • April Fools graphics - Planning an April Fools' Day related Web page, presentation or custom greeting card? Here's the place to go for free April Fools' themed graphics. There are animations, buttons and other images here, available for download in one convenient ZIP file. From FreeGraphics.com.
  • Y2K Joke program - The much-feared Year 2000 computer crisis is coming. Play on your prank victim's worst fears with this funny, free Y2K parody. This gag has such features as changing all your Ys to Ks and pretending to fix your mouse's Y2K problems. (For Windows 98/95/NT).
  • Black Screen - This free program will cause your victims' screen to go black or capture the desktop & display a bitmap image. The victim of your prank will then be unable to close the screen without a password. Black Screen can be used as a joke gag or for security purposes. Here's the home page. (For Windows 98/95/NT).
  • Random Wallpaper Changer - This free utility randomly switches your Windows desktop wallpaper at any interval that you select. It's a "stealth" program (meaning that it can't be detected). Good either as a prank or if you'd just like to have a new wallpaper automatically displayed, from time to time. (For Windows 98/95/NT).
  • Program/WAV Launcher - This free, sneaky gag program offers all kinds of possibilities for driving your buddies bananas. It's a hidden program launcher that'll execute a specified program or .WAV file at intervals that you choose. You can specify when the program or sound file will be launched, as well as how often it'll be launched. Fun! (For Windows 98/95/NT).
  • Fork-O-Grams - Have you ever stumbled across a really bad Web site? You know, the ones that take forever to load. And when they do load, there's nothing worthwhile to see? Or the ones with the really painful backgrounds that makes it hard to see the text? Well, send that site's Webmaster a "Fork-O-Gram." It's a free message that you can easily send any Web site owner that lets them know that they need to work on making their site better.
  • Windows crash gag - This freeware program simulates a realistic-looking Windows crash screen gag that won't go away, but causes no harm to the computer. (For Windows 98/95). 16 kilobytes.
  • Crazy Num-Caps-Scroll gag program - I know from personal experience that this prank program can drive someone crazy! This free "utility" will toggle the Num Lock or Scroll Lock keys at intervals that you can specify. You can set up which keys to toggle and how often they'll be toggled. New version includes command line support for Num, Caps and Scroll Lock. (For Windows 98/95/NT).
  • Clickme - Install this free joke program and it displays a button on the desktop. When your prank victim moves their mouse to click on the button, it moves elsewhere! Lots of fun. (For Windows 98/95/NT).
  • Fake Delete - This exceedingly cruel, free prank program simulates the deletion of all files and folders in your victim's Window directory. Looks very real, and even experienced users will be unable to detect or stop it. You can select the directory to be "deleted." This new version even features the added realism of hard drive noise! (For Windows 98/95/NT).
  • Activegrams Insults - The fine art of insults is personified at this site. With this fine free digital greeting card service, you can insult people in style.
  • Fake Windows 95 Start Menu - Here's another free gag program to play on a computer user. This is a fake Windows95 Start Menu that won't respond to the user. It actually takes away the users' Start menu and puts this one in its place. Very realistic. Here's Fake Win 95's home page, which features more freeware gags. (For Windows 95).
  • Message Manager - This free gag program allows you to set up a message dialog to be displayed on someone's computer. You can specify the text to be displayed, as well as the type of message box. You can also specify when the message will be displayed, among other options. (For Windows 98/95/NT).
  • Bomb Crash Alert Gag - This joke program simulates the Windows 95 "program crash" dialog box. And it's difficult to tell that it's a fake! It's easy to use and there is no setup/install involved. Just copy the program to someone's machine and run it. Here's Bomb Crash Alert's home page, which features more freeware gags. (For Windows 98/95/NT).
  • Sculptor Screen Saver (direct download) - Wreak some havoc on someone's desktop with this screen saver that slices, dices and melts your screen.

  • Crazy Page Counter - A joke page counter for your Web site, available in both Java and animated GIF versions.
