Welcome, everyone! I hope everyone had a great week.

Regular visitors to The Free Site know that there are loads of great,
quality freebie offers out there on the Web. But wouldn't it be great
if Net access itself was free? As longtime visitors to The Free Site
are already aware, there is a way to get free Net access.

A number of companies have sprung up in recent months offering free
Net access. The phenomenon is much more widespread in Europe (where
flat-rate local toll calls are rare). In Britain alone, there are now
77 free Net access providers. The best known of these is Dixon's
Freeserve, which has 1.1 million subscribers.

The best-known U.S. free Net access service is NetZero
(http://www.netzero.com). These guys offer free Net access in
exchange for displaying ad space in your browser. They support 56K
FLEX and V90 modem standards.
NetZero's main drawback is that connecting can be slow, due to their
proprietary dialer program.
Another drawback is that they don't support yet Mac users.

NetZero recently unveiled a new version of their software, Version
1.6, which offers an improved interface. It's available for Windows
98/95 and NT.

Note that NetZero now has over 1,500 local access phone numbers and
