Dialpad.com - Need a break on your phone bill? This unique service lets you make free unlimited long distance calls, via your computer. Dialpad is Java-powered, so you don't need to download and install software to use this service. Note: service requires Windows 98/95/NT, Internet Explorer (version 4 or more recent) or Netscape (version 4.5 or more recent). You'll also need a sound card, speakers and a microphone. (International availability, but currently you may only place calls to U.S. phone numbers).
Qwik Pages - This new service lives up to its name. Just fill out a short form and you'll get your own free 25 megabyte Web site, along with your own free E-mail address. You edit and upload pages here through their online "Qwik Builder" utility, which is easy to use. Qwik Pages also offers FTP uploading, free stats and other handy features. (No adult sites permitted).
eCoupons - Here's a handy resource for finding loads of free coupons for retailers, restaurants and businesses in the area where you live. Just sign up (it's free) and enter your ZIP code and you'll be able to access coupons for local, national and online retailers that you may output on your printer. The site adds new coupons, savings and promotions daily. (U.S. only).
Stat Track - A solid free Web site tracking service, Stat Track offers you loads of data to help you improve your site and its traffic. Information available here includes visitors per hour, visitors per day; last 20 visitors, top 20 referrers, last 20 referrers, screen dimensions, color depth, JavaScript status and domains. It's easy to sign up for and implement on your site.
HomePage Tools - Do you want to make your Web site interactive? HomePage Tools makes it easy for you to easily add nifty services to your site, even if you don't have CGI access on your server or know nothing about scripts. Ad-supported free services here include a "free for all" links page, a partner program, guestbook, forms processor, site counter and a search engine. Be sure to also check out their "UltraBoard," a powerful, easy-to-navigate bulletin board.
Free Outlook Mail stationery - We've had a number of requests lately from visitors using Outlook Express Mail, asking where they can get custom stationery to liven up their correspondence. This is the place to go. Here, you'll find a wonderful collection of free themed stationery for use on Outlook. Each self-installing package includes beautiful scrolling backgrounds, and some include music. (Note: these files are for Windows only).
dashBar - Going shopping on the Web? Here's a freeware "personal shopping assistant," that positions itself at the bottom of your browser and offers you up to 25 percent cash back when you shop at selected online merchants. (For Windows 98/95).
Ballot-Box.net - What's on your visitors' minds? You can find out, using this nifty, free service. Ballot-Box.net allows you to easily add a poll or survey to your site, so that you can find out what your visitors think about your page, your products, current events, etc.
AllAdvantage.com - This service pays you to surf the Web. The catch? You must display their ad-laden "Viewbar," which is basically a small window about twice the size of Windows 95/98's taskbar. While the Viewbar is displayed, you'll earn 50 cents per hour. More significantly, you can also earn money by referring others to AllAdvantage.com. Besides the U.S., AllAdvantage.com is now available to residents of Canada, Britain, France, Germany, Australia and New Zealand.
AssociateZone.com - There are many Web site affiliate programs out there these days. But which ones are worthwhile? This site rounds them up and offers reviews and descriptions of each program. Here, you can learn how to earn revenue from your site or how to start your own affiliate program.
Gifart - This site offers a quality selection of several hundred free original graphics. GIF files here include buttons, icons, interfaces, wallpaper, digits, side & tiled backgrounds, 3D animations, counter digits, bullets, bars and textures. AOLSpeed - Are you an AOL user? You may have experienced performance problems (such as excessive hard drive "grinding") when you upgraded from AOL 3.0 to version 4. A freeware utility, AOLSpeed, disables unnecessary "disk buffer flushing," and it can help solve the excessive resource usage woes that many AOL users experience. Note, however, that this utility is not endorsed by AOL itself. 45 kilobytes. (For Windows 98/95; no Mac version is available).
Digital Blasphemy - If you're getting tired of looking at Windows' lame default wallpaper, then click over to artist Ryan Bliss' site for an awesome selection of free wallpaper art. There's over 100 eye-popping, original 3D rendered images here, including surreal images, lovely outer space scenes and abstract stuff.
Spinwave - Want faster-loading Web pages? Then check out this excellent, free online utility that can reduce the size and download times of GIF and JPEG images from anywhere on your hard drive or the Web by up to 90%. You can crunch single GIFs and JPEGs for free (although you'll need to subscribe to crunch whole sites).
AllFreeClipart.com - A solid free graphics resource, this site offers clipart that may be used on either personal or commercial pages. Categories include animals, arrows, bullets, cartoons, flags, music, people, sports, vehicles and more. You'll also find tips and tricks for using graphics on your site.
Background City - An impressive graphics resource that offers loads of free, original background images and textures. Image categories here include embossed, rainbow, dark, starry, clouds, patterns, space, lines and more. Images here are intended for personal, non-profit use only. They may be used for free on noncommercial personal Web sites or as desktop wallpaper.
Click2Lead - Looking for an affiliate program for your Web site? Click2Lead offers a good roundup of programs that generate revenue, either on a pay-per-click or on a pay-for-lead basis. Lots of categories are listed here, including automotive, books, business, clothing, family, food, games, shopping and more.
Daily Backgrounds - Sign up with this service and they'll deliver a free, original background image to you every day. Lots of colorful, quality images are available here, courtesy of graphics guru Andrew Sain. From Free-Backgrounds.com, the Web's top resource for free background images, where you can find hundreds of background designs, suitable for both personal and business sites.
Mypoll.net - Need a custom, interactive poll on your site? You can easily set one up with this free service. No CGI required; just fill out the forms at the site. You may also configure the appearance of your poll so it will match the look of your site. You may have up to 10 answers for your visitors to select from.
MyCoupons.com - Register with this free service and they'll periodically send you electronic coupons, which you may either print, click, or call to redeem. Most of the coupons are good for only U.S. residents. However approximately one-third of the coupons and offers here are valid internationally. MyCoupons also offers a free E-mail service, as well as free Web space.
Autobots.net - We've had several requests lately for a free autoresponder service. (Autoresponders are automated E-mail services that let you send a custom message on demand to anyone who requests it). Autobots.net is the best such service on Net: it's ad-free and allows you to send up to 10 follow-up messages. Lots of options are available here and a daily activity log will be delivered to your E-mail address.
Completely Free Software - This Australian site serves up a strong collection of freeware that is fun to browse. Each listing is reviewed and rated. Freeware here includes programs for Windows 98/95, Win 3.1 and plain, old DOS. Topics here include text editors, graphics programs, games, utilities, multimedia programs and more.
My Mp3 Storage - MP3s are cool, but they sure can eat up your hard drive space quickly. This new free service offers you up to 50 megabytes of online storage space for your MP3 files. With this service, you can access your files from any Net-connected computer (and you can easily swap files with your friends, as well).
JobsOnline - A must-visit site for job-seekers, JobsOnline offers a number of useful free services to both employers and those who are looking for a job. Currently, the site offers 200,000 job listings. Free services here include a job aptitude test, a salary comparison service and "JobFacts," a free monthly E-zine. If you register now, you'll get a free 30-minute calling card.
FreeLotto - Take a shot at winning a $1 million prize in this free, ad-supported online lotto game, in which you select six numbers. Lotto drawings are held nightly here. The game is available to residents of the U.S. and Canada, excluding Florida, Puerto Rico and the province of Quebec.

Har's WAV World - This site offers a nice roundup of free WAV files that are specifically selected to be appropriate for Windows "event sounds." That is, when you start up your computer, shut it down, empty your recycle bin, encounter an error, or get new E-mail, you can customize the sounds you hear with these nifty WAVs. They certainly sound better than Windows' lame default sounds!
