|
Many of the best screen savers on the Web are of the shareware and commercial variety. However, there are a number of outstanding free screen savers out there that are as good as, or better, than commercial programs.
It is our goal here at TheFreeSite.com to bring you a current listing of what we believe are the best free screen savers and screen saver utilities around. Send us E-mail if you're aware of any such free screen savers that we haven't listed below and we'll consider them for a listing.

 "Horseman" Cowboys Screen Saver - This rustic free screen saver features colorful, high-resolution images of cowboys riding their horses on the prairie. - Drawing Hand Screen Saver - This jaw-dropping free screen saver is one of the most impressive that we've seen yet. It features a moving artist's hand that creates incredible works of art right before your eyes. It's difficult to take your eyes off this amazing creation. Educational, too, in that it gives you insight into how art is created. 2.1 megs. (For Win 95/98).
- Underwater Aquarium - Turn your desktop into an aquarium with this excellent freeware screen saver, which features gorgeous images of exotic fish and other colorful underwater life. Underwater Aquarium also has cool "watery" visual and sound effects. If you like this screen saver's images, be sure to also grab the associated free desktop theme, available at this site, too. - EZskins - A fun site to browse, EZskins is updated daily with dozens of new free screen savers in many categories. Topics here include anime, fantasy, games, holidays, horror & occult, movies, music, nature, religious, schools, sci-fi, TV and more. EZskins also offers truckloads of free themes and "skins" (which let you customize the look of your desktop).
- TheFreeSite.com Screen Saver - Version 6 of TheFreeSite.com's own free screen saver has been released. And we think this all-new screen saver, titled "Still Waters," is our best one yet. Features serene images from nature, including lovely photos of rivers, lakes and other tranquil water scenes. - Zing - Would you like a custom screen saver that displays your family's photos? That's what Zing offers. Here, you'll also find free, handy services, such as Zing PhotoVault, which offers secure online storage for your digital pictures, as well as a service called ZingAlbums, which lets you create online photo albums that you can share with your family and friends. - Pokemon Screen Saver - This freeware screen saver features characters from the wildly popular Pokemon series, along with multi-transitional effects. You'll also find free Pokemon ICQ skins here. (2 megabytes). For Windows 98/95.

- Rain or Shine Screen Saver - A charming, useful freeware screen saver, Rain or Shine keeps you up-to-date on the weather conditions in your region. Just enter your ZIP code when requested to customize the screen saver to your area. (2 megabytes). For Windows 98/95/NT, as well as Macs.
- Gaming Club Screen Saver - This entertaining freeware casino program includes an interactive screen saver that features a fun slots game. The site also offers a freeware casino program that includes roulette, blackjack and poker, which you can play either for fun, or for money.
- JoBlo's Movie Screensavers - These days, every movie comes with its own screen saver. This nifty site rounds up all the Web's free cinema-related screen savers in one convenient spot. Each listing is accompanied by a short description. The site also offers movie reviews, quizzes, trailers, scripts and more.
- Corkboard - This wonderful free program offers a versatile screen saver that does everything but take out your garbage. It's like a bulletin board for your computer, onto which you can place any one of a number of cool interactive "objects," such as a clock, a calendar, memo pads, graphics, various gizmos, pranks and much more. - Underwater photos screen savers - Blue Oasis online diving magazine is offering free screen savers that feature lovely, colorful underwater images by Gunther Deichmann and other noted photographers. Desktop wallpaper images are also available. (For Windows 95/98).
- Starflight Screen Saver - Cool "flying through space" screen saver from Germany that features many options, including spectral coloring of stars and two separate configurable star sets for better 3D effect. For Windows 95/98 and NT.
