TheFreeSite.com: VRML Freeware
|
VRML (Virtual Reality Modeling Language) is a standard for creating "three-dimensional" spaces on the Web. Below, we list the Web's top free resources for both exploring and creating VRML worlds.
If you're new to VRML, be sure to check out the free Active Worlds browser.
This VRML environment lets you assume the form of an "avatar." Using your mouse, you can roam around a vast landscape, chatting in real time with other people, who're also represented by avatars. What's more, you can stake your claim and easily build your own custom "house" that you can meet with others in, and return to, again and again. If you haven't experienced it, it's a fascinating, unique experience that must be seen to be believed.
If Active Worlds whets your appetite for VRML, then you may want to try your hand at authoring your own world. Below we list several free tools for doing so.
Send us E-mail if you'd like to submit a VRML freebie for us to consider for inclusion on TheFreeSite.com.
